Inner Beauty

If there was one thing that she had learned

throughout her life and tribulations

is that she had a heart and soul big enough

that could hold both her pain and happiness.

But she then realized

that in life you can’t wait to be something

but to accept your true self

appreciating only the beauty that comes from within

and the feeling of weights upon your shoulders

will disappear

This was a free verse poem I’ve written about Inner Beauty in collaboration with my good friend Riya, whom I have known for quite some time now, and I must say, she’s a fantastic writer so please check out her blog as well as her poem! We’ve also collaborated before on previous posts which can be found on both my blog and her blog.

Calling Out

She’s dreamt so long of being free
Calling out in total darkness
Her chains break open
Freedom responds at last

Importance Of Love

The Heart of His Angel Friend

Memories

The Heart of His Angel Friend

An angel appeared to a young boy today with a heart of gold
With only love to pass on from what I’ve been told
He could feel her sweet tender touch along the sad path he took today
Touched by the hands of grace
All his fear and sorrow were wiped away

Wondering if it was even real or fake
He just doesn’t know
But he felt liberated of all things
Things that don’t usually come and go

Tears started flowing down so gracefully
With kindness she wipes them away
Casting away the darkness and loneliness inside him
That the heart of the angel was so pure
It kindled within him

She showed him with only the touch of her hands
To be free and show love
To never give up hope no matter the situation
To never be burdened by fear
To stand-alone and show compassion
To stay strong and to never lose ambition

He then said to me
That the angel flew gracefully to the heavens above
Watching over him with only a smile
He felt so happy he then pointed to the sky

Thanking God for sending this special Angel friend
Who has a heart so big and gentle
He described it as a dream so perfect and beautiful
Wishing it wouldn’t be the end
He finished by telling me…
That this was the Heart of his Angel friend

Memories

Childhood comes and then goes
But once you’re old enough
There’s no going back
But then you remember all the memories
Seeing how you once were
So innocent and pure
With dreams so big and vast
Remembering the songs and smiles
The family gatherings
Knowing that everything will be fine
Not in tune with reality
You think everything is magical with rainbows and unicorns
And you will be forever young

But then it fades away
So quickly you can’t even imagine
Because reality starts to kick in
Confused by what’s happening
You’re going left and right and up and down
Wondering if you’ll ever be okay
Seeing the beauty of the world
Quickly fading away by greed and power
Your mind controlled by the now and the future
Forgetting who you are and who you once were
It’s quite twisted you see
But in the end, it will all make sense
Because you have the power to turn it around
That is if you’re commited and if you want it

Took a month’s break from blogging, but now I’m back! Stay tuned for more posts because I will be bogging every two days.

Finding Inspiration

I sit here thinking,
formulating sentences in my mind.
But none seem to come-

Next day, waking up I’m like “gosh!”
There seems to be some,
now I slowly close my eyes.

I will now let my heart and soul think,
transforming that energy into ink;
writing it down on a piece of paper.

But never will I fully understand-
Is it yet another creation in my yet dreamy mind,
Or is it something truly divine.

In response to yesterday’s prompt (paper).

NOTE: In a few weeks, I’ll be flying out to Vancouver, Montreal, and finally Fort Lauderdale. During my time there, I will be posting a bunch of travel related posts, so stay tuned for that.

By the way, I’m so grateful to have hit 100 followers! Thank you.

Relief

You can’t find relief…
In reasons non existent;
In predicaments ill-explained.

There’s no relief.
In trying to peer over lofty walls.
With feet on tiptoes,
and necks sorely craned.

Relief isn’t found…
In wishing upon droplets
that explode as they meet the ground.
Everytime it thundered,
and then rained.

Relief is in the trove
when the heart lets go.
To acknowledge the mistake,
to move on…
And commit fully to the lesson gained.

Belief In What?

It takes just two people to bring the world
to ruin. So goes the history of love.
At the end of the day, we tally the casualties
of war, a victory for the one who gets wounded the least.

You say it’s time for a change
but I don’t know to what end, change being
just the skin of some incandescent creature
whose grotesque beauty is what we adore, whom some people call love, whom we
venerate because it consumes us, slim pickings
for its huge soul.

My people say, don’t look
or you’ll go blind. You say the end was always just around the bend. I say all we have
is unconditional surrender to the future.

So unreliable is the past that I feel compelled
to leave unmourned the blind, relentless loves that may have scorched into our hearts
the way the saints accepted stigmata.

But I’ve heard the world’s never going to end.
I’ve heard it will go on and on, and we will live forever, our lives
not worth a footnote, our grandest schemes no more than feeble whispers, all memory
shifting like the continental plates.

In the future,
all science will finally come around; genetic
engineering, I’ve been told, will be all the rage,

and we will be a super race in a world
infallibly perfected, where trains run on time,
love never dies, and hope can be purchased
by the pound. It’s called immortalization of the cell lines.

But it’s insanity, in fact, it’s frivolous
The truth is, we are not immortal,
we will never be, so we must decide for ourselves
to either believe crazy or the truth..
